The body of Beyond the Silence is composed of an introduction, nine chapters, and a conclusion.

Beyond the Silence is an attempt to help members and leaders of Churches of Christ to see that the law of silence is not a biblical law, but rather that the use of the law of silence has done much damage to churches of Christ, dividing them again and again in disputes on how to apply the law of silence in the issues that arise.  Most of the divisions among us can be laid at the feet of this principle referred to as the law or authority of silence.

Beyond the Silence examines the logic behind the law of silence, and concludes that in most instances silence signifies nothing.  All the passages that are used to justify binding laws based on the silence of scripture are examined, and shown to be misapplied, taken out of context, and made to say what the writers of these passages never intended to say.

Beyond the Silence is written so that the average person can read and understand its message.
